Metagalpa

We woke up at 5:30 am to catch a shuttle to Matagalpa; excited to go the highland city,  famous for it’s superb coffee and cool mountain air.

We got to the bus station eager to get on our way only to find out they would not let us travel with Charlie ( in spite of scouting the situation out the day before and being assured it would be fine).  Our next move was the Chicken bus – another wasted effort!  Really why do you think they are called Chicken Busses – I told them in my best spanish Charlie was better behaved than most people – what is the problem?   So another $80 on a Taxi to Matagalpa!  It turns out the people in Mategalpa are a little less receptive to dogs than here in Leon.  We could not take him to any of the reserves which is why most people go there.  Oh well, at least I did have time to make some paintings with Charlie waiting patently at me feet.

Dubrovnik, June 10, 2018

I was attracted to this high vantage point because of the challenging perspective; as I painted I learned about Dubrovnik from the perspective of two locals caught in the daily riggers of mass tourism.
